Our Story

Rocky Mountain Fly Shop started out as a one room home business in our basement in 2017. In the beginning we took appointments with our clients to open the store and offered fly fishing lessons to anyone who was interested. Since 2017 we have been incredibly privileged and thankful to have had so much support from our local community and all of our clients that we are now moved into our second store front location, Provide employment for five full time & part time employees and offer full time outfitting services from April 1st to October 31st that offer clients opportunities to take part in lessons, day trips, overnights and multi day expeditions!

Our Shop is located in Olds Alberta at the doorstep to Alberta’s wild, iconic and breathtaking West Country. Our retail location in Olds has a large selection of fly fishing and fly tying materials, supplies and equipment. From vises and materials to fly rods and rafts our selection includes brands such as FishPond, Orvis Templefork Outfitters, Grundens, Norvise and NRS to name a few. Our guiding services are entirely focused on West Central Alberta and we operate primarily within the Red Deer River Watershed from Ya Ha Tinda Ranch to the City of Red Deer. Our area of operations includes the Panther River, The Town Of Sundre, Caroline area and Rocky Mountain House area. We also offer trips on tributaries of the North Saskatchewan River including the Clearwater River and The Ram River.
