When is the best time of year to book a trip?

I wish I knew, If we could predict the water conditions and the best fishing days of the year we would probably never have to work another day again! But here is what our experince has taught us about fishing in Central Alberta.

April 1st to May 31st

Our spring fishing opportunities can be amazing! Some years it can be the banner time frame of the year for ES2. Unfortunately though spring fishing is unpredictable and touch and go at best. Some years we see run off conditions as early as April and others not until June. We recommend that you speak to us if you are thinking about booking a spring trip. We do not reccomend traveling to the region exclusively to fish in this time frame however if you are in the region and looking to do some fishing we reccomend you give us a call and we will discuss the current conditions.

June 1st to July 15th

This time frame is traditionally our runoff season. Most years in this time frame our rivers blowout due to runoff from the mountains and the spring thaws. While runoff timing can vary greatly from year to year most years the rivers are unfishable in this time frame. That said this can be a great time of year for a stillwater trip and during years when runoff is long high country trips can be a excellent option as well. Contact us anytime and we would be happy to discuss the regions currents conditions.

July 15th to October 31st

This is time frame has the most predictable water conditions of the year. For clients traveling to the region exclusively to fish this is when we recommend planning your trip.

November 1st to March 31st

While some angling opportunities exist in the region we do not provide guide services during this time.

How much am I expected to tip my guide?

You are not required to tip your guide. However the industry standard is that guides recieve tips for providing excellent service. As such if you are not happy with the service you recieve then by all means do not provide your guide with a tip.

If you believe your guide has earned a tip but your not sure how much is apropriate, The standard tip for fly fishing guides start at $100 per day.
