In the mean time we are still offering guided fly fishing trips and lessons for the 2021 season in West Central Alberta's amazing back country. So please check out our trips and lessons information below and feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions or would like to book an amazing trip or lesson with one of our awesome guides! 

 

 

Our guided trips include food and non alcoholic beverages as well as transportation to and from Olds if requested. All prices include up to two anglers. Rods, waders, flies, rigging and all required equipment are supplied and included in the cost of your trip.

If your looking for a multi day trip there are a few options for accommodations and camping near by and we also offer overnight trips on the Red.

Fishing licenses and guide gratuity are not included in the price of your trip. Please be aware that Rocky Mountain Fly Shop is a strictly catch and release guide service.

West Country Walk & Wade

Come and join us for a day on one of West Central Alberta's beautiful mountain streams or rivers.

We target Bulls, Browns, Brookies and Rocky Mountain Whites as we make are way through main stems and explore back channels and beaver ponds in Alberta's West country.

$600 Full Day / $450 Half Day

 

Mountain Drift Trip

The freestone sections of  West Central Alberta's West Country is one of our favorite places to present to Alberta's Native and Wild trout . This trip provides anglers the opportunity to present to Bulls, Browns, Brookies and Rockies within the beautiful mountain back drop of West Central Alberta's iconic Eastern Slopes.

These trips are our favorites and provide the trout minded angler the opportunity to fish for native and wild trout in beautiful picturesque freestone river sections.

$750 Full Day / $650 Half Day

 

Red Deer River Tailwaters Drift Trip

 This trip is a blast! The tailwater section of the red Red is one of the most diverse river systems in our region! Providing anglers with opportunities to present to Northern Pike, Walleye, Sauger, Goldeye, Mooneye, Carp, Brown trout and Rockies!!!

In addation to providing anglers with access to big game on a fly rod the tailwaters of the Red are home to some beauty Browns and at the right time of year stalking some of these big Browns and hooking up with one on a dry fly is an experience that you wont soon forget!

Come and enjoy a great day in the boat and find out what fishing the Red Deer Rivers Tailwaters are all about!

Overnight Trips

These trips include two full days of fishing and we will spend the night camped out on the banks of a West Country River, we often camp on the mouth of a good side channel providing you with access to fish the main stem and a back water throughout the evening.

These trips include all your meals, snacks and non alcoholic beverages. We also supply all camping and fishing gear required but you are more than welcome to bring your own gear if you wish.

Getting up from the camp fire and trying your luck with a mouse or large top water pattern, often with explosive results! is what makes this trip especially unique.

2 Days & 1 Night - $1,875.00

 

 

Our introductions to fly fishing are designed for beginners and people who have never fly fished before or want to expand on some basic skills.

We cover all the stuff you need to know to get started in fly fishing including fly selection, rigging, casting and basic fly fishing techniques. Our introductions are a great way to get you out on the water and catching fish.

Our classes are seasonal and run from April to October. All of our classes are private lessons for up to two anglers allowing us to focus on your specific needs rather than providing instruction to a large group. (Group lessons are available please contact for more information)

-All of our rates include up to two anglers

-Waders, Rods, Flies and supplies are all included

-Food & beverages, fishing license and transportation is not included in lesson rates

Basic Introduction to fly fishing

Our basic introduction lesson is conducted in the Olds area and is designed to give you a hand getting started and point you in the right direction to get out there and start catching fish on a fly!

3 Hours - $200

 

Multi Lesson Introduction

Our multi session introduction course is designed to give first time anglers and those new to the sport of fly fishing the skills and confidence they need to get out there and fish like a pro!

We like to schedule our sessions a few days apart or once a week for three weeks. This allows you time to go practice your new skills on your own in-between sessions.

Crash Course Introduction

Our day long crash course introduction is a great way to get started in fly fishing. We spend the entire day with you working on casting, fly selection, presentation, rigging as well as anything and everything else that you want to learn or improve on!

Our day introductions can be conducted on the Red Deer River in the Sundre area or on one of our local stillwaters. We can also split the day and cover both if you prefer.
